Nazareth, Pennsylvania native, Corey Lewis, currently competes in the CTSCC and the Weathertech United Sports Car Series. Corey has been racing for 15 years beginning with karts at the age of 8 years old. After earning regional championships and national championships in karting, Corey progressed into the skip barber regional series where he honed his "race craft." Corey advanced into the national skip barber series earning many podium finishes before he moved into formula Mazda cars. His driving abilities have enabled Corey to compete at many infamous venues. These include Infineon Raceway, Road Atlanta, Sebring, Road America, Virginia International Raceway, Lime Rock, Cota, Laguna Seca and Running the Streets of Toronto.
Most recently, Corey claimed the 2015 Lamborghini Super Trofeo Pro-Am World Championship in the Monster Energy, Change Racing, Huracan St. Following his success he has been once again accepted into the Lamborghini driver development program for 2016. The team at Fader Plugs, LLC is especially excited and honored that Corey is our July Highlight of the Month. Whether on the track or watching the race from a distance, hearing protection is essential when attending a racing event. A study conducted in 2008 titled Noise Exposure Levels in Stock Car Auto Racing stated, "Noise levels measured during the race ranged from 96.5 to 104 dB(A) at 46 meters (approximately 150 feet) from the track and 99 to 109 dB(A) at 6 meters (approximately 20 feet) from the track. The peak sound pressure level at 6 meters was 109 dB(A). Although significantly less than that associated with an immediate permanent threshold shift, such an exposure could cause a temporary threshold shift." (Rose AS, Ebert CS Jr, Prazma J, Pillsbury HC 3rd.).
If you're not familiar with what a temporary threshold shift is, think back to that time you left a loud concert or racing event and you had ringing in your ears! While talking with Corey, he has expressed his support and belief in the use of earplugs on and off the racetrack. Currently, the team at Fader Plugs are brainstorming with Corey to introduce innovative ways for drivers and pit crew members to communicate more effectively during the race. Congratulations on all your recent and future success, Corey! We are excited to see you on the podium!
